Gearing up for Christmas tra la la!

Well, here I have a list of the busy times ahead from November through to December so you can easily locate me - there's still time for a bespoke piece, or if you like what you see, wish granted.

As you know, all my jewellery is designed and made by hand, the precious metal is predominantly recycled and my studio practices are as environmentally conscious as possible; packaging is post consumer - rag paper - and even my business cards are printed with vegetable dye on post consumer paper (thanks Print Together & Olive & the Volcano).

SUNDAY 16th:       Shirt & Skirt Market, Abbottsford Convent, Melbourne
SATURDAY 22nd:       Brunswick Town Hall, Sisters' Market

(Also, look out for me at the Blender Lane Market of a Wed. evening throughout this period, dates are not yet set, but I will be popping up there regularly!)

SATURDAY 6th:         Malvern Town Hall, Sisters' Market
SUNDAY 7th:        Victoria Market, C Shed, New Craft

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

Well everyone it finally is the season, so here's a little update on the " what, where and when" of what I am up to just prior to taking a little Xmas break from the full on studio, into tinkering until it's all back to full speed ahead.

Sisters' Market is headed to Q.V. as am I for three of their six dates: 13th (Thursday) 14th (Friday) and 15th (Saturday) of December I will be there selling my silver wares, so if you know someone who likes some subtle bling, there will be some beautiful stuff on offer and great eats all around, not to mention music, lights etc. so should be loads of fun.

This weekend is the Design Market for three days, where Mark from Lord Coconut has a stall showcasing all of the beautiful designers and jewellers he stocks in the store and that includes moi, so that should also be amazing, I would love to go up and see all that amazing talent in one building!  Hope it's a great success.

Bend and Snap are having a Xmas evening market on the 16th of December, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. complete with a little gift wrapping stall, in the very funky 1000 Pound Bend Gallery and Cafe on Little Lonsdale.

I hope you can come to at least one of these events, as I believe buying hand made from any of the amazing artisans our city is abundantly rich in is the perfect Christmas gift!

Cheers and have a safe and happy Christmas, and a brilliant New Year with all your beloveds!

New Work

Well, here is a piece commissioned by a lovely young man for his equally gorgeous girlfriend.  She is a very talented surfer, hence the wave crashing...lovely and challenging to work on.
May today be one of many more to come with the gentle breeze bearing the scent of boronia from the garden and the sun warming the back of my neck to a pale pink after the weak rays of winter.

Sisters' Market

Very happy to announce I will be attending the Sisters' Market on October 20th at the Northcote Town Hall, so please look out for me there; a new venue for me and very exciting it is too!  I have designed and made some of my own stamps, so the newer pieces will feature these delicate additions.  As well as my trademark earrings, expect to see some matching pendants, and a range of delicious bangles.  Hope to see you there.

Bilby's a-boppin', Bunnies a-hoppin' and the weather is a March MadHatter.

Well, lots of news and lots of new images to post, thanks especially to all those who came to the Craft Hatch Market it's always good at the 1000 pound Cafe in Little Lonsdale, great coffee, great music and really exceptional makers to share the day with.  It is very tempting to shop while you are trying to sell...lucky they are so inspiring and I can come back all gingered up to the studio to work some new thoughts into my pieces.
Craft Hatch, March.
Been very inspired by fabrics and architecture, thanks to a short trip O.S. to the very beautiful, romantic and delicious looking Quebec, the Old Quarter, which seems untouched since the 17 and 1800's when it was a thriving French Colony.
Luke in Quebec, Xmas 11/12.

Ribbons and Packages!

Well Hello,
How exciting, I have finished my packaging and printed material and have received it all, recycled paper and vegetable dye inks and all from a company in Melbourne called Print Together who were very lovely to deal with and very helpful.
I am busy with some commissions and putting together items for the upcoming Craft Hatch Market  on August 13th in Melbourne, the first one I have ever done, plus trying to put together a piece for Lord Coconut's exhibition in August also... busy busy busy.  The weather is bad but the fire is going and I am very happy to be so occupied.
Take a look at my beautiful new packaging and business cards.  I hope you like them as much as I do... Cheers, and stay warmxx

June and July....

Well Hello all, I know it's a really slow and wet day today, but I am very very happy!  I am one of the craft hatch market designers on their AUGUST 13th market day at 1000 £ Bend at 361 Little Lonsdale St in the CBD and since it's a Saturday, and since it starts at 11, you can all be in the city for brunch, head down and  look at some really beautiful pieces and amazing designers and head off for early drinks and dinner, as it finishes at 4 p.m.  Or... go and see the Vienna exhibition at the NGV, which is what I intend to do soon.
I am currently working on a piece for the upcoming exhibition at Lord Coconut called" Dear Father..." and I can not stop thinking about it, so I hope I can meet my own expectations!  Plenty of work on the boil also, I tend to make earrings as a way of thinking things through, so many new ones coming along nicely.  As it's a really wet and cold, windy day, I may just get one of the offspring to come in to the studio for some candid camera time, and I promise to post them in the next few days just to share my little creative space with you.  Back soon, ciao for now....

May Madness

Why hello again.  It's very very wet in my neck of the woods so I am looking forward to a little jaunt into the big smoke to dry my feet.  I'm off to the Lord Coconut opening in a few weekend's time to see how the whole project has come together and I will be researching my new bed.  Can't wait!!  Been back to the studio these last few days, and enjoying a few equipment upgrades and how they make my life so much  easier and more grown up, however, I really think I will be needing my own solar power station soon, what with having to use a heater lately in my little nook.  The sun is out and so is the washing.  God bless the Egyptian cotton sheets goddess, as I am dreaming of snuggling up tonight and my yummy sheets smell beautiful and very very inviting.... mmmm... must control myself and wait 'til the sun has at least made an attempt to retire before I do.  Ah well.  Back to the bench for this little worker.  Until next time...ciao!
